Major Accolade For Aluminium Special Products

Kingswingford based Aluminium Special Products Limited is today celebrating having achieved a major new aerospace standard.

Aluminium Special Products, which provides a variety of aluminium based products to clients throughout the aerospace sector as well as a range of other high performance industries, has been accredited with the BS EN 9100:2003.

Quality and reliability are critical values for the aerospace industry. In an environment where the mistakes or failure of products or services can be fatal, the effective operation of a quality management system plays an essential role in helping to reduce risks and provide a reliable framework for organizations to provide a product or service.

Quality management systems have been used in the aerospace industry for many years.  Efforts by members of the aerospace industry to establish a single common Quality Management System resulted in the BS EN 9100 series of standards being published in 2003. They are used and supported by the world's leading aerospace companies and also throughout their supply chain partnerships.

The Aerospace Standards are a series of specific standards based on BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) to provide international consistency and address the specific regulatory, safety and reliability requirements demanded by the aerospace sector.

The aerospace series of standards cover the complete spectrum of organizations working within the aerospace sector, from design and manufacture to maintenance organizations and stockist distributors.

Over the last 6 months the firm has employed the services of Initiative Quality and Safety Ltd, a leading UK consultancy, training and assessment company, which has provided the firm with a tailored consultancy delivery programme, incorporating new quality management systems and disciplines, in order to prepare for the assessment.

A reflection of their hard work and dedication, the assessment process, which consisted of an intense two-day audit conducted by the TUV auditor, resulted in nothing but positive feedback for the Aluminium Specials Products team who have consequently acquired the internationally recognised standard.

Mark Thompson, Managing Director of Initiative Quality and Safety commented: "Taking into consideration the demanding nature of this new aerospace standard, the consultancy delivery programme went very smoothly, which I may add is not always the case.

"Registration in such a short time would have been virtually impossible, if it had not been for the impeccable efforts made by the whole ASP team who collectively harnessed the Quality Management Representative role admirably.

"As a business, Aluminium Special Products has successfully diversified the aerospace sector and has progressed rapidly in a very short time.  I’m confident that the achievement of this standard, along with the new Quality Management Systems (QMS) and disciplines introduced during our recent collaboration, will help to only further boost what has been a continually exceptional rate of success for the company."

David Robinson, Managing Director of Aluminium Special Products Ltd commented: "We are really pleased to have received this internationally recognised approval, which will not only benefit us as a company, but allow us to offer an even better level of service to clients in the aerospace sector.  I would like to thank everyone at Initiative Quality and Safety for their help and all of the Aluminium Special Products team for all of their hard work."
