Expert Boost For Aluminium Special Products Limited

Aluminium Special Products Ltd, of Kingswinford, is one of 38 West Midlands companies who are celebrating after making international contacts potentially worth millions of pounds at the “Aerospace Opportunities 2007” event at Rolls-Royce in Derby.

More than 35 buyers from countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Israel, India, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland and the USA flew over to meet representatives from aerospace companies. The event was organised by UK Trade & Investment and the Midlands Aerospace Alliance.

During the day, sellers were given 15 minutes to pitch their products and services in a series of face-to-face meetings with the international buyers.  More than 800 meetings scheduled throughout the day proved a highly effective way of reaching new markets and new customers for the British suppliers.

The companies were also able to meet international trade advisers from UK Trade & Investment for advice and guidance on all aspects of exporting. Three UK Trade & Investment commercial officers from British Embassies in France, Spain and Italy brought over buyers and attended the event to give detailed advice on their overseas market.

Aluminium Special Products secured 15 appointments, which included meetings with buyers from Japan, Spain and India.

Sales Director Philip Price said: “This event has given us excellent opportunities to meet a cross-section of international aerospace buyers from different disciplines within the industry in just one day, which we hope will lead to long term business.”

Helen Yendall from UK Trade & Investment’s West Midlands team based in Birmingham, who is the co-ordinator of the Transport Technologies business cluster, said: “The day was a great success and offered companies a unique opportunity to develop their business overseas.

“The feedback from both suppliers and buyers has been really positive, and many of the participants particularly appreciated the in-depth advice from the commercial officers.

“This is a great example of UK Trade & Investment working in partnership with the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) to make further advances for the Midlands in global aerospace markets.”

Dr Andrew Mair, chief executive of MAA, said: “The Midlands is home to one of the UK and Europe's most significant aerospace industry clusters. This is reflected in the high number of overseas buyers that took part in the event. We are more than confident that this will result in real business for a number of the companies attending and will be a great profile raising exercise for the Midlands in general.”

Aluminium Special Products has a proven track record in providing tangible benefits in the supply of aluminium materials to precise specifications and finished components to customer drawings.
