Major UK Client Case Study

ASP has provided a major UK client with an effective solution to increase productivity.

ASP’s client had previously been using a range of plate billets in 7050 alloy and subsequently had been faced with soaring prices and extended lead times due to lack of industry capacity.

ASP devised a strategy to overcome these problems and increase profitability by cutting exclusive flat bar dies.

This method allowed the items to be supplied as extruded billets, which significantly saved the client on metal costs and inventories by creating shorter lead times.

By establishing very specific, non-standard heat treatment, not only did the mechanical properties exceed those of rolled plate but lower residual stresses led also to major benefits in machining, eliminating completely the need to machine in two settings ie rough and finish. In practice, using extruded plate, these parts can now be finish machined in only one setting.

US Client

ASP has been working closely with a prestigious US client, who is a supplier to the military forces.

The client had been purchasing a range of hard alloy drawn tubes from tier-one suppliers that required extensive machining. This made achieving the final result both time consuming and costly.

Therefore, ASP was approached in order to determine if a more practical and cost-efficient solution could be offered.

ASP’s in-house capability gives them the scope to orchestrate specific strategies that will be most beneficial for individual clients.

Consequently, ASP provided tubes drawn to the specific tolerances and the required surface finish, which as a result saved their client hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Lighting Company

Located in Sutton-in-Ashfield, this multi-disciplined company specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of exterior lighting systems, telecommunications masts, architectural canopies and passenger shelters.
